Michelle Aldama, M.A., is a doctoral student in Educational Leadership at Portland State University(PSU). She received her Master’s degree in Educational Policy and Leadership at PSU with an emphasis in Ecology, Culture and Learning. She is the daughter of a German-American mother and Mexican National father and was raised in the United States, Mexico and Spain. She identifies as a Chicana–a woman of Mexican descent, born in the United States, with a politicized identity. Her artwork reflects her bi-ethnic upbringing and multi-cultural influences. Her paintings can be categorized as Chicana folk-art which represents reflections on Mexican-American identity and history as well as themes of life-death life cycles.
